Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon Wear 1100 chips for wearable devices

Qualcomm’s newest Snapdragon Wear 1100 has just been revealed at Computex in Taipei, the capital of Taiwan. The chip is most likely meant for wearable devices but what makes it different from the previous Wear 2100 announced in February this year is that the Wear1100 will have a more focused outlook.

The Wear1100 is more apt for simple devices like smart headsets and fitness trackers. It can also serve as an appropriate purpose in location-aware gadgets that might be of great help for not only the elderly but for young people also.

The main prioritizations of the Snapdragon Wear 1100 are power efficiency and compact size. It offers LTE and 3G connectivity and is further able to function well alongside Bluetooth, voice commands and Wi-Fi.

Pankaj Kedia, senior director and business lead of smart wearables at Qualcomm asserts that Snapdragon Wear 1100 is an easy to use product which can do two to five things very well. As such, the good is said to have really good value for money.

Qualcomm is determined to make multi-purpose wearable devices a mainstream play whilst providing unique experiences especially for children. Shipping of the latest product is expected to start in the second half of the year.
